Student Status
Dependents must meet the criteria of eligible dependent as stated by Farm Credit Foundations. Unmarried dependent children are eligible to remain on the plan up to age 25 if they are full-time students at an accredited institution.
- Dependent graduates from high school
- Dependent changes from full-time student to part-time student
- Dependent returns to school as a full-time student
- Dependent is studying abroad, completing an internship or a missionary
- Dependent graduates from college
Benefit Continuation for Dependents
Farm Credit Foundations voluntarily offers employees and their families extended medical, dental and vision coverage at full cost in certain instances where coverage under the group plans would otherwise end.
When a dependent becomes ineligible for benefits (e.g. divorce, dependent turns 25, dependent over 19 and under 25 who is no longer a full-time student), you have up to 31 days to notify the employer of the event by completing the Status Change Online Form. The ineligible dependent will have up to 60 days from the date of the event to enroll in continuation coverage.
Disabled Dependent
Dependents who are unmarried of any age who are physically or mentally challenged and depend on their parent(s) for support are elgible to remain on the benefit plans. You must get documentation from a physician. Contact Farm Credit Foundations at 1-800-892-7924.
Full-Time Student Status
Full-Time Student Status is determined by the college, university or accredited institution (i.e. does the college considers the student's credit load full-time?).
Accredited Institutions
Accredited Institutions are colleges, universities and/or other institutions that provide higher education and include but are not limited to earning a degree or certification.
