Farm Credit Foundations offers medical, dental and vision coverage for domestic partners. Domestic partners are defined as two unmarried adults at least 18 years of age of the same or opposite sex that are not related by blood that have lived together for more than six months in a exclusive committed relationship of mutual caring and support.
The domestic partner’s eligible children may be enrolled as long as the domestic partner is enrolled and the children’s legal residence is the home of the employee.
A qualifying status change allows you to add or remove a dependent from your existing benefit coverage (as applicable). Any changes made to coverage must be consistent with the Qualified Status Change under IRS Section 125.
IMPORTANT: Changes to your benefit elections due to a life-changing event must be made within
31 days of the event.
The employee and domestic partner must meet the following criteria:
Have lived together for at least six months and intend to do so indefinitely.
Are not married to anyone else nor have another domestic partner.
Are at least 18 years of age and mentally competent to consent to contract.
Employee and domestic partner cannot be related by blood closer than would bar marriage in the state of residence.
Jointly responsible for each other's common welfare and share financial obligations.
Employees who elect to cover a domestic partner are taxed on this coverage.
